Michael Leon Chrzan

Data Scientist bridging practice, policy, and advanced analytics through machine learning, causal inference, and NLP to drive equity and evidence-based improvement in education and beyond.

I’m the Senior Data Scientist at the Center for Educational Data Science and Innovation (EDSI) at the University of Maryland, College Park. With over a decade of experience bridging education practice, policy, and data science, I work at the intersection of machine learning, causal inference, and educational equity.

My journey has taken me from the classrooms of Detroit, where I taught mathematics and mentored teacher interns, to Stanford’s Graduate School of Education, where I specialized in advanced quantitative methods and AI applications in education. I’m passionate about using data science to create more equitable systems and improve outcomes for all of us.
